Tricinium Poetry Contest on the Subject of Community

First Prize: $1,000 and performance as a musical composition as part of The
MacDowell Colony's Centennial Celebration

Guidelines: First prize winner will receive $1,000; second prize $250; third
prize $100. Top three poems will be set to music and premiered at a concert in
October, 2007. The concert event, honoring David F. Putnam, a philanthropist
dedicated to community-building, will take place at the Peterborough Players
Theater as part of The MacDowell Colony Centennial Celebration. Poetry
celebrating community and how individuals can inspire community is sought. Poets are
encouraged to write about their experience of community, their sense of place,
and/or the special places and people they have known who represent community.
The top 20+/- poems will be published in a booklet commemorating community to
be distributed at the event. Composer Lawrence Siegel of Tricinium, an
organization harnessing the arts to nurture civic engagement, will create three
musical compositions; the three winning poets will be honored guests at the
premiere. Works should not exceed one-page to be considered. Two copies of each work
are required (one without author's name and contact information). Poems
published elsewhere are eligible (with written permission from the publisher) and
poetry can be in any language, provided a translation is included. Reading fee
$15 (US), $25 (international) payable to Tricinium. Entries will not be
returned.

Submissions must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2007. Winners
will be announced by March 15, 2007. To receive list of winners, include a
self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE). No telephone calls please. Tricinium
